Hand Painted Historically Accurate Gates & Railings - In Southampton

We really enjoyed working with Jo & her neighbours, they had a real eye for detail and quality. She made us most welcome on site too {the coffee was amazing!}. It was a privilege to create a bespoke installation for such a pretty terrace, you cannot fail but smile when you look upon this row of loved homes. Meeting Bruce the yellow lab, who was super friendly too, certainly made our visits even more fun!

Back in March we installed 5 bespoke railing panels, 2 gates and a scrolled door dividers. Jo chose a hand painted finish, which always takes a little more time, but is well worth the wait. {find out more about the finishes on offer}.

You can see here the railings in their pre-painted state here with lots of clever handcrafted concealed welds and joins. Wraps of steel cover joins and add strength to the installation.

We adore Jo's choice of finials, elegant in proportion they match the architecture perfectly. We supply railings in bespoke panels, carefully joined by a discreet bolt & overlap.

This photo shows how the hand sprayed finish shows a little more character of the underlying metal, the softer finish is also more in keeping with the late Georgian terrace.

Creating a cohesive design across two properties, taking time to select the features and finials, and scheduling the hand painted finish after galvanisation all took a little longer that we expected or hoped in the end, which meant that we ran over. But we were overjoyed with the results and humbled by Jo's gracious patience!

Just look at the scalloping at the top of the archway! This is the kind of detail that we seek out in properties to bring into the design process.
